KATIE AUTH: Hi, everyone. I’m Katie Auth, Deputy Executive Director at the Energy for Growth Hub and host of the High Energy Planet podcast.
Something fundamental changed the day the Trump administration closed the US Agency for International Development, where I spent eight years working on global energy investment. But USAID’s closure is really just one small part of a much bigger story about how US international energy and climate policy is changing.
The old world is not coming back, so this season I’m exploring some big questions.
What’s happening behind the scenes in DC, and what does that mean for the real world? Where is energy investment going? How are the geopolitics of energy and climate changing? And most importantly, how do we use this moment to build a new approach to climate and energy that actually gets big stuff done, outlasts political cycles, and matches the needs of a new era?
I’m gonna be talking through this with some of the most creative and smartest thinkers on climate, energy, and development. And there’s something new this season for listeners of High Energy Planet.
I’m going to be hosting solo, as my amazing former co-host, Rose Mutiso, has gone on to found her own organization completely focused on African leadership in science and tech. So we will miss her dearly. She’s off doing amazing things, and we wish her the best.
