Hanaan Marwah is a Fellow at the Energy for Growth Hub and Executive Director of Energy Access Value Creation at Lightrock. Before joining the team, Hanaan held a variety of C-suite roles at energy utilities. Hanaan also had a 15-year investment career at global and emerging market funds including Actis and Blue Ridge Capital, and was the founder of the utility investment platform Gridworks Development Partners, capitalised by BII. Prior to that, Hanaan worked in M&A at Morgan Stanley in New York and London. Hanaan holds a DPhil from University of Oxford and Master of Government Administration from the University of Pennsylvania. She currently sits on the board of ATEC Global, and has previously served on company boards including Eneo, the national utility of Cameroon, Virunga Energies, the utility of the Virunga National Park in the DRC, and Kuwait Energy Company. She has also sat on advisory and investment committees of facilities including the Cities and Infrastructure for Growth Facility and the Seed Capital Assistance Facility II, both funded by UK’s FCDO. She has published a number of journal articles and book chapters on topics including electrification, access to modern cooking fuels and technologies, economic history and development.
