Benjamin Attia

Benjamin Attia is a Fellow at the Energy for Growth Hub. He is Founding Partner at Hyfin, an early-stage climate finance platform that designs and manages financing vehicles providing credit enhancement and liquidity to lenders and companies financing customer-owned clean energy assets in Africa and Asia. He was previously a Principal at Allied Climate Partners, where he designed and structured fund investment approaches to deploy risk-bearing philanthropic capital to address climate finance bottlenecks in emerging markets. Before that, he was the Research Lead for Energy, Climate, and Sustainability at BlackRock, where he directed the firm’s flagship energy transition investment research and supported climate infrastructure and blended finance private infrastructure equity strategies. Earlier in his career, he founded and scaled Wood Mackenzie’s emerging markets energy transition and energy access practice.

Ben is also a part-time doctoral researcher at Oxford’s Smith School focused on systemic risk within the global climate finance architecture. He conducts affiliated research with various partners as a non-resident fellow at the Energy for Growth Hub, The Payne Institute for Public Policy, and the James E. Rogers Energy Access Project at Duke University. Ben holds a Masters of Energy & Environmental Policy and a B.S. in Economics and Energy & Environmental Policy from the Biden School of Public Policy & Administration at the University of Delaware.
