With all these climate & energy summits, who has time to get work done?

Around the world with just 45 days to spare.
Shaping Energy Transitions

Whew, another COP down. But don’t worry if you missed COP29 in Azerbaijan or are disappointed with the outcome. Prep is already underway for COP30 in Brazil next fall.

Or maybe you missed the G20 and G7 summits. Or the IMF-World Bank’s Spring Meetings and Annual Meetings. Or the annuals for each of the regional development banks. Or the UN General Assembly, New York Climate Week, London Climate Action Week, or the many, many other summits and conferences all around clean energy that took place in 2024.

For the true Clean Energy Road Warrior, we tallied all the days spent at 30 such events in 2024. If you went to them all, you’d have just 68 working days left. Add four weeks of vacation (more for Europeans) and a few sick days, and you’re down to about 45 days left to do a year’s work.

That’s a lot of meetings. No wonder everyone seems exhausted.

Note on our count: We counted all working days of a summit that took place in 2024, plus one day on either end for travel, unless it fell on a weekend or holiday. The tally includes:
