Kevin Ramnarine is a Fellow with the Energy for Growth Hub. He served as Minister of Energy of Trinidad and Tobago (2011 to 2015), where he created a positive climate for investment, opened the country’s deepwater province to exploration, and presided over the first IPO of an energy company. Prior to being appointed Energy Minister, he held positions in the Energy Chamber of Trinidad and Tobago and at British Gas (now Shell) where he worked as a Lead Economist.
Since leaving Ministerial office, he has lectured at the Lok Jack Global School of Business and worked as an energy consultant. He is a regular speaker and writer on energy and sustainable development and has delivered speeches at major international conferences and at universities in the US and the UK. He has also advised the Governments of Guyana and Barbados on matters related to energy policy. In 2014, he was named “Energy Executive of the Year” by the Petroleum Economist magazine. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, a Bachelor of Laws (LLB), a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (LPC), a Master of Science degree in petroleum engineering and an international MBA. He is also a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).
