Ian Muir

Ian Muir is a Fellow at the Energy for Growth Hub and the Head of Insights at Catalyst Energy Advisors, a consultancy focused on reducing the energy access deficit in emerging markets. Ian specializes in data-driven analysis to inform the design of renewable energy financing programs, build impact modeling and monitoring tools, and drive scalable deployment of off-grid solar systems, green mini-grids, clean cooking solutions, and productive use equipment. Previously, Ian served as the World Bank’s Lighting Africa country lead for Rwanda and Madagascar, where he spearheaded initiatives to expand rural electrification, and as a Project Manager for EarthSpark International’s mini-grid program in Haiti. He holds an MA in Chemistry from Trinity College, Dublin, and an MA in International Relations and Economics from Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).
