Half of the world lives without reliable energy
The Issue
The quality of electricity is a vital aspect of a modern energy system. But in many countries, basic data on outages or other quality measures are missing.
Relevance
Firms require stable 24/7 power, especially in energy intensive industries like manufacturing, mining, and information technology. Outages create huge economic costs, while voltage fluctuations can damage equipment or collapse the grid.
Our Approach
We believe reliability has to be given far greater attention in the fight against energy poverty. That begins with better measurements and data. The Hub explores alternative ways to track reliability, applies those data to new metrics (such as RACE), and makes the case for investing in better power quality in order to drive job creation and economic growth.
